Our Holiday Party is Dec 4 at 10 a.m.

It’s already late fall and the dark winter season is coming upon us. Everyone is invited to our annual Holiday Party on Thursday, December 4 at 10 a.m.  Once again our gracious member Celeste White has offered to be our hostess and is opening up her beautiful home in Napa. This is a wonderful time to come together as the supportive friends we are to each other, especially in these cold days.

This is also when we do our in-house fund raising for local non-profits and we need your support for this.  Please bring auction items—hand crafted or purchased—to our auction table.  Gifts baskets are always a great hit, as are holiday wreathes and home made baked goods.

We are also asking for gift donations for the residents of the Napa State Hospital.  A majority of their residents have little or no income and little or no family support.  The State Hospital is their home.  We are asking that you make a financial donation, made out to “NSH BF 30B” or to donate items such as colored socks, lap quilts, and new factory sealed CD’s or G/PG rated DVD’s.  There is a more detailed list in this newsletter.  Many thanks to Maureen Grinnell for all her hard work to help our fellow Napans who are easily forgotten.

This is a very difficult time of year for people.  Let’s move gently and thoughtfully through our days and be there for each other.  No one can really know the burdens that are silently carried.

The Joys of Fall

We would like to congratulate our Alliance member Nancy Brennan on her marriage to Dr. Glen Duncan on October 12, 2008.

We also want to send warm congratulations to Dr. James Bird, husband of Bobbi Bird and Dr. Dwight H. Murray Jr, husband of Jan Murray.  These two gentlemen were honored with Professor Emeritus awards at the Napa/Solano Medical Society dinner on September 30th at the Eagle Vines Golf Club in Napa.
