Initiated into the Alliance by the California Medical Association Alliance president Shirley Marshall, her first involvement was helping to execute Kern County’s Fall Leadership Conference. Wasting no time, she agreed to join the organization as President–elect. This meant tackling the job of arrangements for Alliance meetings, where she took enormous pleasure introducing members to a number of less-known service groups operating in Bakersfield.
Her programs were educational and entertaining, they were held in a variety of locations and although this probably goes without saying, always included delicious menus. During this time, Jacqueline was being familiar with the CMAA. In 2005, as KCMSA President and CMAA Trustee, she served on the CMAA Legislation Committee, learning as much as she could about issues facing medicine in California and discovering her passion for advocacy.
She helped institute SAVE Day programs in outlying Kern schools and she continued to oversee meeting arrangements and programs, including a very successful fundraising brunch. In 2006-07, Jacqueline donned two hats, serving as KCMSA Nominating Chair and CMAA Trustee for Legislation. She even planned, shopped for and cooked most of the meals for that summers CMAA Board Retreat, introducing non-Valley members to deep-pit barbecue, which turned out to be quite a hit!
This year Jacqueline has again worn two hats, serving as CMAA Recording Secretary and KCMSA VP Finance. In fact, she just wrapped up another one of KCMSA’s most successful fundraisers! Looking ahead, she will again serve Kern County in that role in 2008! On a personal note, Jacqueline’s generosity and hospitality know no bounds. She is known to step in to cater and host events, often at the last moment and without asking for any help. She is dedicated to her husband Gene, her daughter Grace and her live-in “Auntie," and she is a great asset to her Alliance and to her community. KCMSA is proud to honor Jacqueline Anderson as its Dedicated County Alliance Member.
